I worked on the Xisibei Exhibit project within an OMA*AMO team. The project originated from an invited competition by a local developer on design proposals for a historic neighborhood with primal location in Beijing. A review session was held in the middle of the two-week work session with Rem Koolhaas as the critic. Knowing the extreme sensitivity of the proposed site, our work is focused on an overview of the preservation field on the theoretical level instead of giving a pretentiously realizable design proposal. Some speculations on urban preservation methods are given by the team to meet the challenge in Beijing. The work was displayed at the Beijing Library and the Shenzhen Biennale 2008.
